Secret Santa, games night and film night invitations
Invitations for the nights in: a Secret Santa swap at work or with friends, a Christmas games night or quiz, karaoke under the mirror ball, and a Christmas film on the sofa with blankets and popcorn.
There’s also a Secret Santa card to tell each person who they’re buying for, and an A4 scorecard for judging the best Christmas jumper. Change the wording to set your own rules, from the budget to the deadline, then print them or send the image to the group.
Your first design is free, then 99p each. Or every design for £5 a month with Unlimited.

Running a Secret Santa that works
- Put the budget on the invitation. Pick one round figure, such as £10, and say it plainly, so nobody’s embarrassed by spending far more or far less than everyone else.
- Draw names early. Give everyone a week or two to shop, and put the draw date on the invitation. The Secret Santa card is a neat way to hand each person their name in an envelope.
- Say when and where the presents go. “Wrapped, labelled with the recipient’s name and under the tree by Friday the 18th” leaves no room for confusion.
- Games night? Tell people what to bring. A quiz needs teams, a games night needs a favourite board game, a film night needs blankets. One line on the invitation does it.
- Make the jumper contest official. Print the scorecard on A4 and let guests score each other’s jumpers. A prize for the winner is optional; bragging rights are not.

Pick a designQuestions
- How does Secret Santa work?
- Everyone’s name goes in a hat, each person draws one (not their own) and buys that person a present within the budget, keeping it secret. The presents are swapped on the day, often at a party or a Christmas lunch.
- Can I make a Secret Santa card for each person?
- Yes. The Merry & bejewelled Secret Santa card is 6 × 4 in: type a name, download it, then change the name and download again. Once the design is yours, every download is free.
- Is there a Christmas quiz night invitation?
- Yes. The Penguin quizmaster design is made for a Christmas quiz, and the games night designs work for board games, charades or a pub-style quiz at home.
- What does it cost?
- Your first design is free, then 99p each. Unlimited, £5 a month, includes the invitation, the Secret Santa cards and the jumper scorecard, with every other design besides.
