Big sister and big brother announcements
Let the big brother or big sister to be share the news. These announcements put them in the spotlight: “promoted to big sister”, a Little Herald front page, a teddy chalkboard, a “now starring” film poster, a “next stop: big sibling” ticket, an official adventure partner certificate and a little nest for two big sisters at once.
Several have separate frames for your child’s photo and the scan. Change “big sister” to “big brother”, add the due month, then print one for the fridge and send the picture to everyone else.
Your first design is free with an account. After that it’s 99p a design, or £5 a month for every design. A ready-made Canva invitation template on Etsy is usually £6 to £10. See how we compare

Tips for a big sibling announcement photo
- Take it near a window in the morning, at your child’s eye level, with the card in their hands.
- Tell them first, so the photo catches the real excitement, not a pose.
- A month is enough, “Arriving July 2027”, if you’d rather not share a due date.
- Twins on the way? Change the wording to “two babies” on any design.
- Adopting brothers and sisters together? The two kites postcard is made for it.

Pick a designQuestions about big sister and big brother announcements
- When do people share a big sister or big brother announcement?
- Most families share pregnancy news after the 12-week scan, and a photo of the big sibling to be is a gentle way to do it, especially for relatives who live far away.
- Is there a big brother version of each card?
- Every word is editable, so any design can say big brother, big sister, big cousin or simply big sibling. Change it in the Text panel, where every line on the card is a plain form field.
- Can I add the scan photo?
- Yes. Several designs have one frame for your child’s photo and another for the scan. Upload each, drag it to choose what shows and zoom in; the proof check reminds you if one is still empty.
