Christmas open house and carol evening invitations
For the drop-in kind of Christmas: an open house for friends and family, mince pies and mulled wine with the neighbours, and carol evenings, whether that’s a carol service at church, carols round the piano or a singalong on the village green.
The carol designs suit churches, choirs and schools as well as hosts at home, and many come in pairs with an open house in the same style. Print them to post through letterboxes on your street, or share the image on the church noticeboard and the community Facebook page.
Your first design is free, then 99p each. Or every design for £5 a month with Unlimited.

Open houses and carol evenings: getting the wording right
- Give a window of time. “Drop in any time between 2 and 6pm” tells guests they can come for half an hour or stay all afternoon. A single start time makes people think they’ll be late.
- Introduce yourself to the street. For neighbours you don’t know well, add first names and your house number, and say who’s welcome: “children, dogs and plus-ones all welcome”. Posted through letterboxes, a printed invitation feels personal in a way a group message doesn’t.
- Say what kind of carol evening it is. A service, a concert or a singalong? Say how long it lasts and whether there’s a collection for a charity, and mention the mince pies and mulled wine, because they’re half the draw.
- Help everyone get there. For a church or a hall, give the postcode, the parking and whether there’s step-free access or a hearing loop.

Pick a designQuestions
- What is a Christmas open house?
- A drop-in party over a few hours, often in the afternoon. Guests come and go when it suits them, so you can invite more people than would fit at once. Mince pies, mulled wine and a few nibbles are all you need.
- Can churches and schools use the carol evening designs?
- Yes, for their own services and events. Print as many as you need for the noticeboard, the newsletter and the pews, and share the image online.
- How early should I invite the neighbours?
- Two to three weeks is plenty for a drop-in. Posting invitations through letterboxes at the start of December catches people before their weekends fill up.
- What does an invitation cost?
- Your first design is free, then 99p each, whether you print ten for the street or three hundred for the parish. Unlimited is £5 a month for every design.
