Holly & tartan Christmas designs

The classic British Christmas: red and green tartan, glossy holly, robins on the windowsill and boughs of pine. Holly and tartan is our biggest Christmas set, with an invitation for almost every get-together of the season: Christmas dinner and brunch, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day lunch, an open house, carols, a cookie exchange, a wreath workshop, an ornament swap and Secret Santa.

To go with them there are family photo Christmas cards and illustrated greetings in velvet and pine, holly and robin and a hushed winter forest, each with a matching dinner menu, name card and buffet label for the table, plus winter evergreen invitations for a December birthday, engagement or baby shower.

Your first design is free with an account. After that it’s 99p a design, or £5 a month for every design. A ready-made Canva invitation template on Etsy is usually £6 to £10. See how we compare

Putting a tartan Christmas together

  • Pick one series for everything you send, from the invitation to the name cards, so the table looks planned rather than collected.
  • Match the tartan to your table: deep red with brass and candlelight, or bottle green with white linen.
  • Send Christmas party invitations by mid-November, as December weekends fill up fast.
  • Print name cards on heavy matt card and tuck a sprig of real holly or rosemary beside each one.
  • Photo cards look their best with a warm indoor picture: by the tree, in jumpers, with the lights on.

Questions about holly & tartan designs

Do the tartan Christmas cards have matching menus and name cards?
Yes. The velvet and pine, holly and robin and forest stillness series each have a family photo card, a two-photo Christmas memories card, a dinner menu, a name card and a buffet label, so your cards and your table can match.
Can I print the Christmas cards at home?
Yes. The cards are double-sided: you get A4 sheets to print a flat card on both sides, or a folded card if you add inside pages, and a full-size PDF for a print shop.
Which holly and tartan design suits a work Christmas do?
The Christmas open house, carol evening and Secret Santa invitations all work for an office, and the volunteer thank-you card is made for saying thanks to a team at the end of the year.
