Is it just me or has time just absolutely flown by this year? Between work (which has been a lot of fun lately), spending time with friends, and savoring the overall sense of optimism at how things have panned out, life has been great and we’ve been keeping ourselves busy.
Gani and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary yesterday. We went crazy and had a pint of Molly Moon’s ice cream for lunch. It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed since my reflection post right after our second anniversary. I don’t have much else to add other than this: I (still) love married life! How could I have been so averse to the idea of marriage before? It sounds like a cheesy cliché but it’s true what they say—that happiness is doubled and sorrows are halved when shared with someone else. And I’ve been lucky enough to share them with someone whose eyes light up when mine do and whose presence is a comfort when I’m down.
Anyway, like I said, time seems to have whizzed by mainly because we’ve been keeping ourselves so busy. While the weather hasn’t been consistently nice, we commemorated the arrival of spring by heading up north to check out the Skagit Valley Tulip festival, which I shared about here. It was beautiful and gave me ideas for what to plan, should either of our flowers-obsessed mothers visit us. Speaking of family visits, omg.
I get to see my baby brother (well, he’s 20 but still) in 2 days!!!
I’m so excited, it’s all I can really think about. I haven’t spent quality time with him in years. My trips back to Singapore were always so chaotic and overwhelming that we never got to hang out very much and now I will be able to do that for 3 whole weeks! I can’t wait to introduce him to the US, to Seattle, to the cats, to my life here in general. And I can’t wait to hear all about what’s been going on in his life too. We have 5 years’ worth of catching up to do, and so much has happened in these 5 years.
